Total Change to DH Free-riding- February 2nd.

Chatter ... Chatter... Chatter..  Orangatang is finally releasing their newly designed wheel, the "Balut" thought to be a game changer in the field of DH Free-riding. Orangatang felt that DH free-riding needed something a little different something that would place more emphasis on slides. Until recently DH Free-riding was looking for wheels that could navigate curves at higher and higher speeds while using the slide for speed control.

Designing for Longer Slides

Starting to change design concepts for this new application of the slide requires some advance thinking but what comes first?  To be the king of slip, you have to begin with rounded edges built upon a much larger core. After that, it is on to the core where we reduce the weight by removing some amount of urethane from the edges near the bearing seats. Test after test proved the effectiveness of the design for achieving longer stand-up slides, but current urethane formulations were unable to endure the destructive nature of the slides.

Advance Urethane Formulation

Formulation after formulation for over a year until they discovered a formula durable enough to be used for these drifters, which they called the "Euphorethane Formulation."

Increase Wheel Longevity By Better Care

Every one understands that the most important thing for improving wheel life is frequent rotation, but can you tell me the second and third most important things? That's right rotation and rotation. Any other boarder might be able to ignore this, but high-speed drifters can not gamble with a poor maintenance program.

Where to look For Worn Wheels

Look for the most worn wheel and exchange positions with the least worn wheel, rotating others if necessary.

Front wheels wear faster then rear wheels when you spend the majority of your riding time in the center of the board.

Rear-stance or excessive use of kick-tails, will cause your rear wheels to wear at a greater rate then the front wheels.

Rotating wheels diagonally is recommended if your stance is generally facing one direction only.

To enhance wheel longevity, wheels with symmetrical center-set shapes are designed to be flipped and rotated.

We often think of rotation, but look for signs of coning in which case flipping might be more appropriate.

Look for signs of coning on the Heel-side of your board and reverse coning on your toe-side, especially if you are prone to a one directional stance.

A New Feel Is Coming Soon

Already a great sliding machine, however, my Loaded Dervish Longboard will be sliding even better come February 2nd.

Well I hope this blog has been informative and that if you are looking to get even more from your downhill experiences you might consider the Loaded Dervish Longboard and how new Orangatang Balut wheels might bring your drifting skills into a new dimension.

The Boozal: A Bamboo Wonder by Gold Coast Longboards

In the event that you are moving from Skateboard to longboard, then  this bamboo stick of wonder developed by Gold Coast Longboards is definitely a longboard you will want to review.

Click Here: Great Prices on the Boozal by Gold Coast Longboards.

Of all the models, Why the Boozal?

Wishing you could get lost in time, and live the endless summer simply skateboarding from your home to any where else but school? If that's the case, longboarding should be added to your list of "to-do." Many of you who are shifting from Skateboarding to Longboarding, do not be surprised as soon as this kind of effortless looking riding style blows you away.

The Boozal will fulfill each and every expectation and never disappoint anybody. Even though there are longer, this 44 inches of deck length with a nine and a half inch width, offers plenty of room for dancing or hanging ten. As far from a Pin-tail, or Tear-drop design as they could get, the Boozal features the nomad shape bringing that surfing feel back to longboarding. Meeting the needs of a longboard cruiser this stick of bamboo comes well within the specifications to be regarded as a classic. While not tossing out the baby entirely with the bath water, the designers were thoughtful enough to include a nice addition of a kick-tail for this 44 inch cruiser. Carving is enhanced with more edge control due to the contour design of this Boozal model.

What goes into a Boozal

Build for strength, this light weight 7-layer bamboo deck provides the endurance that the Boozal model is known for. By using a fast-growing bamboo stock, Gold Coast Longboards stays true to their environmentally friendly responsibility. Renewable resources was what Gold Coast Longboards was trying to find and at a growth rate of up to 5 foot a day, many people think they have identified an ideal raw wood.

If you like unique graphics, then this hand crafted mural is actually a thing to take pleasure in. However, the grip tape falls short of owner expectancy. To the credit of Gold Coast Longboards, they formulated a special die-cut design to their grip tape in an effort to add visual appeal to the deck top. When the grip-tape fails, artwork appears less vital. Self expression appears evolving and the first place it turns up is in the individual grip tape artwork. Evidently, this minor discontentment does not weigh heavy enough, as the overall score of this Boozal is always good.
Starting with rubber risers and incorporating a pair of Century seven inch reverse pivot trucks designers made sure the Boozal would provide great cruising and carving experiences time after time. Not recognize for wheel-biting, this truck system is top mounted with rubber risers using a straight axle design. What carving experience could hardly be enhanced with a set of Gold Coast 70mm 80 durometer wheels, so designers wisely added four, just because it was the right thing to do. Wheel-life is also essential for a cruiser, which is why this wheel was also preferred, having shown to be long lasting over a variety of surface conditions. Once more, crusing, and carving are what these wheels were made to do. "And they are fast," we're told, yet probably not a property, I would think about in wheel design. We might have the perfect wheel yet without the ideal bearing, that perfect wheel will not even turn, not to say be considered "fast." Regardless of the machine tolerances, we know that even the slightest dirt or dust can bring about down time, so these ABEC-7 rated bearings have been fitted with Teflon guard plates. It took many years for developers to consider the characteristics of the perfect cruising machine, and the Gold Coast designers, have captured these attributes in the Boozal "complete."

Parting Words

In life it usually turns out that more important then the destination, was the trip we took to get there. So Go in style, Go with the Boozal by Gold Coast Longboards..

Picking your first Gold Coast Longboards

Common mistake among uninformed Longboard shoppers

Gold Coast Longboards
Lacking any other information, it is normal to assume  the most important feature of a Gold Coast Longboard is how it looks.
So first time buyers head off to the local department store and find the prettiest skateboard they can find, for less than forty bucks.   And are then surprised when get disappointed looks when the present is opened.  Well, this time we are going to do it right.

What is really important
If it wobbles, and slides, or suffers wheelbite, then there is no graphics that will make this an suitable longboard gift. Performance is always number one. So don't get caught, if you are hoping to succeed, you will want to  study a bit and some asking round.

Gold Coast Longboards
Brands, logos, and riding style
When your boarder has been around other boarders they will in all probability know precisely what they want and may have already presented you a shopping list. Or possibly described details of each longboard feature. Or, if  they are definitely a first-timer, I suggest you begin by looking for a list of acceptable brand names.  Staying away from, the local newspaper ads for Target or Toys-R-Us. Instead listen to the kids talk and if you start hearing names like, Flexdex, Comet, Sector 9, Loaded, or Gold Coast Longboards jot the name down.  If the chatter is not that specific, go ahead and ask some of their school buddies, and also see if you can find out what they like to do on their longboards.
After you find a brand like Gold Coast Longboards, ninety percent of the work is finished. Now, you just need to find out what the intention of the board will be.  Sometimes it is just an easy ride to supplement mom's taxis, or maybe there is there a massive hill near your residence that is a popular longboarding spot?  Knowing this will help you understand how the individual components are selected for each model builders create.

Why Pick just one riding style?
Keeping this article short, we will purely talk about characteristics to enhance versatility in riding styles. To fully understand the working of a longboard is to understand the deck, the trucks, the wheels, and the bearings, together they determine the type of ride a board will deliver.

It begins with a well constructed deck.
How long, how wide, does it flex, and how much, contour and camber.. are just a few of the qualities that definitely define a deck. Depending on who you speak with, longboards range from 38 inches to over 60 inches, with mini longboards as short as 28 inches.. a good all-purpose length is in the 38 to 42 inch range.. Although width runs from 7-10 inches, a very versatile width seems to be about 8-1/4.  A pintail design often known as teardrop shape will be the most versatile with the inclusion of a curved up tail, known as the kicktail. The flexibility of the deck is also a variable. With increased stability the firmer decks become. However, it is well known that more flex means more fun. Therefore select a medium flex to begin with.  A board constructed with 5 ply is often more springy but has less all round strength compared to that of a 7 ply of the same material, nevertheless here's where the size of the rider makes a difference.  We cannot leave out the surface, as I am more and more noting blog comments about factory texturing being removed and boarders are now wanting to customize their own. Therefore pick a simple surface without grip-tape.

Head swimming? Then let the experts take over
Are you an Engineer or perhaps you have training in physics?  Then, by all means, educate yourself on the wheel assembly components and by each component piece by piece.  But if you are just Aunt Mary with twelve other gifts to buy as well, let the Gold Coast Longboards designers choose for you.  In time, this boarder will have several wheels for different riding conditions, but for now,  I'd stick to the actual stock wheels and assemblies, so shop for Longboard models "complete" meaning completely assembled.

When the searching is finished, you would like...
Whether a smile, the enormous hug or simply the satisfaction you really worked at locating a great gift, by following these simple directions, you will be sure to surprise and delight with your longboard selection.  Remember Gold Coast Longboards are a great brand to begin your searching.
